What Tbilisi is like

Tbilisi hits different. The old city sprawls across hillsides in faded pastels and wooden balconies that look like they'll collapse tomorrow—but won't. Metekhi Church anchors everything; the Narikala Fortress watches over chaos. But the real magic happens in wine bars tucked into courtyards where strangers become friends by midnight, and in Vake where young Georgians are rewriting everything. Eat khachapuri (cheese bread, life-changing), drink orange wine poured by people who take it seriously, then wander Shardeni Street at 2am when the city feels like yours alone. The sulfur baths in Abanotubani smell weird and feel ancient. Georgians are wild—genuinely warm, generous, and they'll argue about anything over supra (feast). It's chaotic, it's affordable, and it will ruin you for other cities.
