Napa

What Napa is like

Napa Valley isn't just about wine—though the Cabernets here are obsessive-level good. Stay in downtown Napa itself, not Yountville (fewer tourists, better tacos). Oxbow Market is your breakfast anchor: grab coffee from Ritual, fresh pastries, sit by the river. Rent a bike and pedal between smaller wineries in Carneros—way less intimidating than the big names. The food scene is genuinely excellent: Oenotri for pasta, Mustard's Grill for casual excellence. Skip the $200 tastings; book small producers who actually want to chat. Late afternoon light here is almost unfair—golden, soft, made for wandering. The valley smells like warm earth and oak barrels. Bring comfortable shoes. Plan at least one sunset dinner outdoors. Spring is pure magic.
